Back To Blog 5 Updates that you Can do in a Weekend to Add Curb Appeal
When selling your home, first impressions do matter. Check out these 5 updates that you can do in a weekend to increase the curb appeal of your home!
Give your Yard a Manicure
Give your yard some TLC! Take the time to cut back overgrown trees and shrubs, these should accent your house, not hide it. Basic shrub and tree trimming, and pruning are a quick and easy way to add curb appeal, and if you are unsure of how to do so, there are great tips and advice readily available online! If you have dead trees, or large limbs hanging over the house, hire a professional to have them removed.
We also recommend keeping your lawn freshly mowed, trimmed and edged. Be sure to give it some extra attention before weekend showings!
Add Some Color
Luckily enough for us "New Englanders", in the fall we don’t have to add much since the fall foliage does the work for us! But…that doesn’t mean an extra touch of some colorful mums or adding some additional flowering plants throughout the year can’t add some fresh, bright and inviting curb appeal.
Paint your Front Door
Is your front door in need of a refresh? Give your door a fresh, clean and updated appearance with a few quick quotes of paint! Don’t forget, color choice is key! Be sure to research color schemes or work with a professional color consultant.
Freshen Up Walkways and Driveways
It is inevitable with our New England weather that after a while your walkways and driveways will need additional attention. Take this time to pressure wash brick and concrete walkways, patios, and drives. If your driveway has noticeable cracks, we recommend putting on a fresh coat of sealant!
“Stage” your Yard
You want the outside of your home to look fresh, clean, organized and most importantly inviting! Take the time to clean up your patio furniture, pull weeds, and maybe put a fresh coat of stain on your deck. Also consider putting away bikes, trash cans and toys to maintain an uncluttered appearance.
Home buyers know good curb appeal when they see it, and they definitely notice when it is lacking. Many of these quick fix projects can be done in just one weekend! So tell us…what are your weekend plans?
