Buying a home is a huge life decision, one that will affect your life for years to come, both financially and emotionally. Selling your home is also a huge decision. It’s important to choose the right agent for you to ensure you are getting the support you need throughout the process. So how do you go about finding the agent that’s right for you?

A good starting point to finding an agent is talking to friends and family who have recently purchased or sold a home. They can give you valuable insights on the agents they worked with. If you don’t know anyone who recently worked with a real estate agent, testimonials or reviews on websites such as Google can be a good starting point. 

Next, we suggest checking out an agent’s track record. Checking out their previous sales as well as the listings they are currently working with can be a good indicator of whether an agent is familiar with the types of properties you are looking to buy or sell. Chemistry is key. Since you will be working very closely with your agent throughout the process, it’s important that you find someone you feel comfortable communicating any concerns with. The best way to find out if an agent is the right fit? Meet them! You shouldn’t feel uncomfortable about meeting with agents and discussing your situation, what you are looking for, and what you expect from an agent. It’s going to be a way better situation, in the long run, to meet with a handful of agents before deciding which one is the right fit for you, then having to fire your agent halfway through the process, or even worse sticking it out with an agent that doesn’t have your best interest at heart because you feel too uncomfortable to fire them.
