How to Sell Your Home in Winter

Spring may get all the credit as the ideal time to sell your home, but that doesn't mean you can't successfully sell your home during other seasons. Below you will find our tips for selling your home this winter. Questions about selling this winter? Contact CENTURY 21 North East to speak to an agent who can help you sell your home this season.

Clear a Path

Winter not only brings colder temps but it often brings snow. Make sure that you always have a freshly shoveled driveway and pathway and sprinkle salt or sand periodically. The last thing you want is an icy walkway to your front door. Keep a rubber mat by the front door where visitors can keep their wet shoes.

Let in the Light

It is generally a lot darker in the winter. Make your house seem brighter by pulling up the blinds, opening the shutters, and pushing back the drapes on every window. Make sure you also turn on every light in the house, including appliance lights and closet lights.

Make Everything Sparkle

What’s not to like about a super clean home? Make sure your windows are washed, your furniture and light fixtures are dusted. Wash or polish the floors and vacuum daily. Clean out the refrigerator and empty the trash and recycling bins.

Turn Up The Heat

Pump up that thermostat! You want your temperature inside to be comfortable. Heat the house a degree or two warmer than usual to avoid cool drafts. If you have a fireplace, light it up! A fireplace is a huge selling point and should be showcased.

Create a Mood

You want your rooms to appear warm, cozy, and inviting. Bring out some comfy blankets and place vases with fresh flowers around. Having some soft soothing music playing in the background could be a nice special touch.
