Putting your home on the market can be stressful. There are tons of questions you are probably asking yourself. One of which may be - when is the best time to list my house on the market? While it does vary depending on the region or other external factors, according to a Zillow study, the ideal time to list your home is in May, specifically on a Saturday. Homes listed in May on a Saturday typically sell 6 days sooner than homes posted during other months fo the year.

While a Saturday in May represents all of the United States, when you look at a city in the North East, some differences are clear. On average, a home in Boston will sell 5 days sooner than average when listed between May 16 - 31 and for an average of $5,500 more than homes listed at other points throughout the year. According to Zillow’s report, Wednesday is the ideal day to list in Boston.

There are several factors that help to determine what the ideal time to put your house on the market may be. These factors include the seasonality of your local housing market, how your home compares to other homes on the market at the time, the job economy in your community, current mortgage rates, tax incentives, and your own preparedness/readiness.
