This 1940's bungalow has deep and important history as it once served as a Civilian Conservation Corp. cabin. The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was a voluntary government work relief program that ran from 1933 to 1942 in the United States for unemployed men ages 17'28 and supplied manual labor jobs related to the conservation and development of natural resources. The structure was originally built on Lang Road in Richmond to serve as a CCC cabin where men stayed for months as they clean up after the historic 1938 hurricane. It was sold to a family from Richmond in 1943 and moved to its current location. There are records that show it took a bulldozer, a tow truck and at that time $285 to make the move. Now, today it has renewed life with strong bones and solid history in its timbers which are still visible in the basement.
